Frequently Asked Questions

Every client has unique needs and therefore there is no one set approach to a counselling session. However, in most individual counselling sessions, you meet one-on-one with me, a trained psychotherapist or counsellor, in a private and confidential setting. The session typically lasts around 50 minutes. During the session, you have the opportunity to discuss your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and challenges with me. I actively listen, provides empathy, and ask pertinent questions to gain a deeper understanding of your concerns, goals and obstacles.
Your counselling process may involve various therapeutic techniques and approaches, depending on the your specific needs. My goal is to help you explore your emotions, behaviours, and thought patterns, aiming to identify underlying issues and patterns contributing to your struggles. Together, we work on setting goals and developing strategies to address the challenges and promote positive changes in your life. -
Giving an exact amount of time that you may need to attend counselling is difficult because several factors can influence the duration of therapy and the progress you make. Each individual's experiences, challenges, and responses to therapy are unique, making it challenging to predict precisely how long the therapeutic process will take.
Given the complexities associated with addressing mental health concerns, I will be sure to evaluate your progress regularly and collaboratively with you. I continuously reassess your treatment plan and adjust the therapeutic interventions that I use based on your needs, ensuring that the counseling process remains relevant and effective.
While some clients may find relief and achieve their goals in a few sessions, others may benefit from more extended periods of counselling to achieve lasting changes and growth. Ultimately, the focus in counselling is on meeting your needs and facilitating positive outcomes, rather than adhering to a rigid timeframe.
